Cerave Brand Review

Hi Guys. Last year August one of our group members headed to Vegas(thanks Jolene)and generously offered to buy me some skincare.I will be forever grateful to her walking in the middle of the night to Walgreens to get my fix of the Cerave range.?

What attracted me to Cerave was the hyaluronic acid and ceramides in their products.  There products are fragrance free and affordable. I think I paid just under R1000 for these 4 products and the bottles are huge!

Why I love the Cerave products:

As you guys know , I especially love skincare products with high quality ingredients. We all know that hayluronic acid draws moisture into the skin but we also have to be careful, if there’s no moisture in the air it will draw from your skin
Ceramides are lipids that help form the skins barrier and help skin retain moisture. Ceramides also help the skin protect against environmental aggressors like irritants, and pollution. Without the proper ratio of ceramides, the skins barrier can become compromised, leading to dryness, itching and irritation.

I had so much that I wanted to try but I had to scale down on what I wanted, it’s so easy to get carried away

Below are the products I chose;

Hydrating Facial Cleanser 16oz $19.99

  • This cleanser does not foam at all, its like using aqueous cream to wash your face.
  • Cleans without stripping, my skin doesn’t feel tight after use

What drew me to this cleanser was the ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Now I know I have said that such ingredients are useless in a face wash because you rinse it away, but, this cleanser is still affordable regardless of the ingredients so I chose to try it.

Daily Moisturizing Cream 16oz $19.49 and Lotion 8oz $14.49

Both of these products are the same only difference is that the cream is thicker than the lotion. I use the lotion in the A.M and the cream in the P.M. These products also have a aqueous cream like consistency .

  • It absorbs easily with no tacky feel.
  • The hyaluronic acid plumps up my skin a bit even if its just temporary
  • It doesnt dry out my skin specially in winter(hyaluronic does have a tendency to dry out my skin).

Salicylic Acid Lotion 8oz $20.99

My skin type is oily dehydrated, even though my T zone is oily I still get dry flaky skin because of dehydration. So to combat the flaking I exfoliate.

Salicylic Acid is good at cleaning out your pores and it has exfoliating properties to get rid of my dry skin. It also contains hyaluronic acid and ceramides to moistuize the skin. I’m aware its a body cream but I have read many reviews where people use on there face(I use this as an exfoliating moisturiser on my face). This is also great for people who wax to prevent ingrown hairs and works well at getting rid of Keratosis Pilaris(chicken skin). This is a chemical exfoliant so SPF must be worn everyday

I don’t really do actives in my cleanser and moisturizer because I use tretinoin(retinoid) so I don’t need too.IF you are using retinols/vitamin A don’t use it on the same day as the Cerave salicylic acid lotion.

I love this skincare ranges simple yet effective ingredients. I just wish it was readily available here, but if anyone is traveling definitely ask them to get you some.

  1. You may purchase the products on the following website https://www.caretobeauty.com.I paid R2500 and got charged R1250 duty.
I don’t think it was worth the hassle, I later on discovered there products locally available that can give the same benefits(e.g Cetaphil,UreaRepair Plus Dry Skin Intensive ,Vaseline has a tub with hyaluronic acid(skin Aging .., Netrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Skin Care)

  2. I’ve been wanting these products here even sent clicks and Dischem messages to no avail! Fingers crossed eventually they will listen because online everyone recommends them to try out for skincare!

  3. I bought the Moisturizing cream from Takealot and it’s amazing.. Loving it!

I paid R700 but I got a huge tub of cream (almost 500g). It’s soo worth it.. Just wish we could get a local supplier that can purchase and import it in bigger volumes to lower the import costs..

    • yes, the importers charge quite a bit. We usually ask one of our friends that is travelling if they can bring some with for us when the come back

  4. Hi there,

I saw on Instagram a Cerave South Africa page, I think it’s a fake profile though. Was so looking forward to having a distributor here in SA apart from Takealot. Takelaots prices are abit out of this world.

    • Thank you so much for taking time out to read our post.Yes,it would be so amazing to actually have a verified seller with great pricing available
