Empties Squad, Skincare

Empties Squad Edition 1

One of my favourite parts of my job is getting to trail and test products so I can share my thoughts. Trying out new products all the time also means that I don’t really get to finish products that quickly, hence why it has taken me this long to actually be able to complete a post like this. This is the first edition of our empties squad and we are hoping to make it a regular feature on our blog.

Empties edition 1

Majority of these items were sent to us via press drops but we do not earn any commissions or payments for our comments below.

Moisturisers:

My skin is so dry even Spongebob is jealous of it because it wins employee of the month at the Krusty Krab every month so I tend to go through lots and lots of moisturisers.

empties: MoisturisersMineraline Clarify Step 4 BHA Night Cream R 275.00 Dischem:

What I enjoyed about this cream is the active ingredients included in it,that works very well in addition to the other products in this range. It has a very thin consistency and gives a slight tingle when you apply it to your face.

Dermactin Anti-Aging Facial Cream with Matrixyl 3000 R 315.00 Dischem:

A very thick luxurious facial cream that I thoroughly enjoyed as you lather it into you skin you can already feel it moisturising your skin and keeps it moisturised. The active ingredient in Matrixyl (Palmitoyl Pentapeptide) stimulates the growth of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid which aids in refilling wrinkles naturally from within the skin.

AA Hydroalgae blue: I received this in my Glamore cosmetics make up workshop goody bag a few months ago, I unfortunately don’t see it on their website anymore but there are a few other products that are similar. This product was a nice and nourishing moisturiser, it feels “wet” when applying and very refreshing, however because m skin is so dry it didn’t really do much for me in the sense of  remedying the dryness but it did keep my skin nice and moisturised. So for someone with normal skin this would be a great product.

Toner:

Previously I didn’t really consider toner as a very important step in my skincare routine. I used to think it is to clean the remaining dirt from your face after cleansing until Shamiela explained that if your cleanser is good you shouldn’t have any dirt left on your face after cleansing. I then cut out toner from my routine until I received this product( click here to see how I use it)

Empties : Toners

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem skin toner with Tamarind and Tea Tree Oil: Some people don’t need to use toner but I definitely do, I can see a huge difference in my skin when using a toner vs when I am not using a toner. I am not too fussy when it comes to toner as all the toners I have used have given me the same results and nothing really extra about the different ones I have used. This toner

Facial Oil and Anti-Aging Serum:

empties: facial oil and anti-aging serum

Physicians Formula Argan Oil R 279.95 Dischem:I have been using this product as a mix with my stick foundations to make application a bit better and smoother. Althought his product did what I needed it to do essentially it is just argan oil in a fancy bottle and is not really worth that price tag, as I ‘m sure you will be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

Dermactin Anti-Aging Skin Serum R315 Dischem: As with the facial cream I spoke about above this product is really a great product. I mainly used this for my day serum(which I have since replaced with the CosRX snail mucin) and I was very impressed. Using it with the facial cream also made it that much better and I could see visible results from using this.

Facewash:

I forgot to take an individual pic of this product but it is in the pic above.

Mineraline Clarify Deep Cleansing Facial Wash R 179.00 Dischem:

Although this face wash contains amazing ingredients such as salicylic acid and does an amazing job of cleansing the face, it really just is such a let down because of the strong chemical smell, everytime I used it I would cough because I just couldn’t stand the smell of this product.

Body Butter:

Cantu Softening Body Butter, I received this in a press drop from Cantu and are unfortunately not available in our stores I haven’t really used Body Butters because of the price in comparison with a body lotion, which I assumed served the same purpose, boy was I wrong and you know what they say about assuming lol. So who is going overseas that can bring me a tub with them please?

Empties Body Butter

This product surprised me so much, when applying it to your skin you know you are being moisturised from head o toe, your skin feels silky and smooth. It even helped keep my husbands’ eczema nice and moisturised so it didn’t itch all the time. This is most definitely a product that I will be repurchasing the moment it hits our stores.

Hope you enjoyed this post 🙂

Until Next Time

XOXO
